TExES Core Subjects 4-8 Teacher Certification

The TExES Core Subjects 4-8 (211) includes four Subject Exams:

English Language Arts and Reading (806)
Mathematics (807)
Social Studies (808)
Science (809)

A minimum of 24 credit hours (math, science, social studies, and English) are required if you want to get certified in Core Subjects 4-8 (211).

The test is a computer administered test (CAT) that includes English Language Arts and Reading that contacts 74 selected response questions. The mathematics, social studies, and science part of the tests contains 42 selected response questions.

Test-takers can take this exam through a Pearson Professional testing center. Registration and scheduling are done online by creating a Pearson account and the cost to take the full exam is $116 or $58 to take an individual subject exam separately.

You will have 5 hours total appointment time to complete the test and you must score 240 on each subject exam in order to pass the overall exam.

The time limit for each subject exam is as follows.

CAT tutorial and compliance agreement: 15 minutes

Testing time:

English Language Arts and Reading: 1 hour and 55 minutes
Mathematics: 1 hour and 5 minutes
Social Studies: 50 minutes
Science: 50 minutes
