A Picture Perfect Portfolio

If you are looking forward to interviewing with school districts, you may want to be working on a teacher portfolio that can accompany you on your journey to becoming a beginning teacher.

Outline for My Teacher Portfolio

A. Personal Philosophy of Education (2 to 3 pages)

a. Educational Goals and Objectives

b. Include views on collaboration, diversity, literacy, and technology; also include  knowledge of STARR

B. Personal Documents and Certifications

a)      Cover Letter, Education Resume Template, Certifications, Tests, Transcripts, etc.

C. Accompanying Narrative with Artifacts (as you have them to add)

A minimum of one artifact demonstrating the candidate’s competency in each of the following 7 areas may be included in the portfolio:

a. Multiple Intelligence and Learning Styles explanation of how it could help in the classroom

b. Professionalism, desire to teach children, and teaching ethics

b. Example of different types of assessments

c. Lesson Planning

d. Examples of Research-Based Strategies and Techniques from our textbook

e. Managing the Teaching-Learning Environment

f. Professionalism and Interpersonal Skills

D. Field Experience Log

Teacher Observations

a)      include names of teachers observed,

b)      lesson concepts or objectives or narrative description, and

c)      complete form or/and journal on the classroom observation

Substitute Teaching

a)      include day of training,

b)      schools/districts substituted in,

c)      forms used during subbing including those to teachers, and

d)      activities for students
